In Dublin, Ireland the gay scene is culturally thriving. Just because Dublin doesn’t really partake in gay neighbourhoods, that doesn’t mean you won’t find gay-friendly venues and events throughout the city. For much of the 1980s, Dublin had only one gay bar called The George. Today, Ireland has a burgeoning gay scene with places such as The PantiBar and the Front Lounge. There is a fun night to plan no matter what’s on the agenda. The City of Dublin hosts two of the most prestigious festivals during the months of May and September. The GAZE: Dublin International LGBT Film Festival and the Dublin Gay Theater Festival. Drawing crowds from across the world and by the thousands. Not only are these two film festivals very popular they are also the most respected. The two festivals highlight both cinematic and artistic achievements in the gay community. The Rebel Country is also home to local landmarks where people from all walks of life come to visit for drinks and dancing. Although rural Ireland might not be ready to attend events such as the LGBTQ Pride Festival in September or the Cork City Pride Parade in August. Times are definitely changing. With places such as Dignity in the cities of Galway and Waterford, plus regular gay nights in other Irish cities; there is something for everyone, especially being gay in Ireland. http://gaytodo.com
